FAMILY OF CHORDS
Each
chord has its own set of family. These musical set of families are mainly
used as a reference to make a composition, whether it is a song or musical
arrangement. In addition, each chord in each family may change the name or may
add additional chord and notes depending on the need of the song or musical
arrangement. Adding chord/s and notes are mainly to give color and deep feel
and to give emphasis to each part of the song or composition (Intro/part 1/part
2/chorus/ad lib part/bridge/change of key). Family of chords if practiced
properly may help you trace or recognize the chords used in a song that you
want to learn. The below family chords are basic set that you need to
understand and learn to progress in playing instruments, guitar and piano
specifically.
